Communication with aliens requires that we receive a message or signal of some sort from them. The message could come in the form of a space probe (such as Voyager) or even a visit by the aliens themselves, but given the vast distances of space, signals sent at the speed of light, such as radio waves, are much more likely. And the wavelengths of radio are good ones for sending signals. But what percent of the intelligent species develops the radio technologies necessary for interstellar contact?
